“For over 20 years of owning Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School, giving back to the Twin Cities Metro Area has been a priority. We value supporting local communities, organizations and individuals through sponsorships, donations and scholarships.” – Jeff & Jen Lewin
The Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School Foundation is committed to supporting socioeconomic diversity in youth ski & snowboard programs and to making skiing and snowboarding financially accessible to all families. The Blizzard Family Assistance Fund is fueled by donations from members, staff, Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School, and grants from other organizations to achieve this vision.
The Blizzard Family Assistance Fund has awarded nearly $90,000 to get over 150 Minnesota youth involved in skiing and snowboarding — lifelong activities the entire family can enjoy!
We’re not done yet!
The Minnesota Ski Areas Association (MNSAA) Educational Foundation has been the fiscal sponsor for the Blizzard Family Assistance Fund since 2025. In addition to connecting us with the larger Minnesota snowsports community, this exciting partnership brings the power of MNSAA-EF’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit status to the Blizzard Family Assistance Fund — meaning your donations are tax deductible. (Consult your tax advisor for details.) In 2026, the Fund will transition to the Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School Foundation, a new organization seeking 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. More information will be coming soon about this exciting change!
2025-26 SPOTLIGHT PROJECT: LAURA JEFFREY ACADEMY
For the first time, Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School collaborated with schools and non-profits to get more kids on the slopes. We proudly partnered with Wilderness Inquiry and Laura Jeffrey Academy to bring the entire school (120 students in grades 5-8, most of whom are urban and low-income) to experience skiing or snowboarding for the first time. All students participated at no cost and received:
- Lift, rental and one-hour lesson on January 13, January 27, and February 3, 2026 at Afton Alps
- Lunches and chaperones (Laura Jeffrey Academy)
- Outerwear and outdoor education (Wilderness Inquiry)
- On-hill guides (Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School)
- Discounted bus transportation (MN Coaches)
